Emily Weiss is the Founder and CEO of Glossier, the beauty brand you want to be friends with.
From a young age, Emily has been creative and entrepreneurial. She began interning at Ralph Lauren when she was just 15, commuting to New York City from her Connecticut home. While studying art at New York University, she cut her teeth in media, interning for and contributing to Teen Vogue and upon graduation spent three years assisting Vogue Style Director Elissa Santisi, working in various roles on fashion shoots, shows, and advertising campaigns.
During her time at Vogue, Emily recognized the need for a better online beauty experience and seized the opportunity to launch Into The Gloss (ITG), an editorial site that explores beauty from the inside. Through years of interviewing the most inspiring women in the world and engaging with the ITG community, Emily developed a keen sense for what girls are looking for in their beauty experience and realized there was no one brand that spoke directly to girls like her. So Emily leveraged her editorial savvy, hired a team, secured $10.4 million in venture capital, and created a collection of modern essential products influenced by her community and by real life. In October 2014, Glossier was born.
Glossier is a content-driven, direct-to-consumer beauty company creating modern luxury products that are accessible, hard-working, and easy to use. Everything Glossier does is inspired by real girls and designed for real life.
Emily lives in New York City, and when she’s not overseeing the day-to-day operations and growth of Glossier and Into The Gloss, she enjoys Instagram, eating out, and reading The New York Times on Sundays.
