Brian Hill is the Co-Founder and Executive Chair of Aritzia. As a third-generation retailer, he began leading the company shortly after the Hill family opened the first Aritzia store in Vancouver in 1984. The vision was simple and clear: to offer beautiful clothes in aspirational spaces with exceptional service. Today, we call it Everyday Luxury.
Under Brian’s leadership, Aritzia has grown their market capitalization to $4.5 billion, with sales exceeding $2 billion. The brand is now a world-renowned retailer with over 100 boutiques across North America and a global e-Commerce platform, providing thousands of individuals with rewarding, lifelong careers. As an accomplished Operational Specialist, Merchant, Creative Director and Corporate Strategist, Brian has shaped the business with his vision and expertise, driving Aritzia’s growth year after year.
Beyond that, Aritzia is proud to be recognized as a woman-led company with 85% of its employee base and 73% of its senior leadership team identifying as women. In 2022, Jennifer Wong — who started her Aritzia career on the retail floor in 1987 — stepped into the role of Chief Executive Officer. Aritzia continues to grow under the thoughtful leadership of Jennifer.
As part of its Aritzia Community™ initiatives, Aritzia has contributed more than $50 million in product donations, financial support and volunteer hours to non-profits and community partners. This has positively impacted more than 550,000 people.
Brian has received numerous awards for his leadership excellence in the retail business. In November 2022, he was awarded the Fraser Institute Founders’ Award for recognition of exceptional entrepreneurial achievements, generous philanthropic endeavors and dedication to competitive markets. In 2008, he was named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the Pacific Region. Brian has a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Economics from Queen’s University.
Brian is continually inspired and humbled by Aritzia’s world class team.
